copyright and check lists

Well,
     It seems to me that the most important thing is attribution to the original checklist.  I don't know much about copyright law, but seems to me that one shouldn't get into any trouble by citing an earlier checklist and then adding more recent additions by yourself or other workers.  Whether it is more appropriate to just issue "Additions to the Checklist" (or to issue a whole new checklist incorporating earlier checklists) really depends on how extensive the additions are.  Either way, one shouldn't omit appropriate attribution to previous work.
