Dr. Suneeti Jog will be offering a 2-credit-hour field botany/plant identification course this summer at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Course emphasis will be on gaining experience in field work, specimen preparation, and in-lab plant identification, with short lectures providing background in taxonomy, phytogeography, and ecology.
Students will
--gain field experience in collecting and preparing plant specimens in prairies, managed grasslands, forests, wetlands, and road sides in a Midwest environment
--learn and apply plant terminology and morphology to plant identification
--learn how to use keys for vascular plant identification
The class will meet on Saturdays, June 7-July 29.
Class costs include in-state or out-of-state tuition, enrollment fees, and textbook costs. This class is being offered through Environmental Studies, EVRN 624, section 1400, Independent Study, Class # 82249 with Dr. Kelly Kindscher.
