Two of the changes are "enforced" taxonomic circumscription--dropping
the subspecies on the fox, and submerging the subspecies on the deer.

"The government-in-exile of Constantinople has decreed that henceforth
the large American gallid known as 'turkey' will be called Byzantine
Fowl, lest anyone believe that the Turkish people once inhabited its
native range."
