Information Manager Position Available at The New York Botanical Garden

The New York Botanical Garden has an open position for an Information
Manager to manage electronic data generated by Institute of Economic
Botany research projects, both historic and contemporary.  Duties
include: converting legacy databases; developing public and professional
access to ethnobotanical data in the Virtual Herbarium; preparing
electronic publications for the IEB; developing modern protocols for
electronic data presentation; and representing the NYBG on those
professional committees currently developing ethnobotanical and economic
botany data collection standards.

 

Qualifications for the position are: B.S. in Biology or related field,
coursework in botany, ethnobotany, and anthropology are strongly
recommended.  

 

Candidates should have experience with data entry, database management,
web page development and digital photography; experience working with a
natural history collection is highly desirable.  The position requires
excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, and the ability
to work closely with others in a collaborative environment.
