And primates in general. Like most 'obvious' features its hard to get
comparative information. I'll file that one away for future inquiry.

On Don Colless' observations about alternative common names for
orangutan I have no definitive view. Van Schaik notes that orangutan is
rarely used by local people inside the natural range. 'Mawas' is most
common in Summatra while 'maias' and 'kahiyu' are included among what he
describes as "an extraordinary variety of names."
