Summer Internships for Undergraduates at the New York Botanical Garden

The New York Botanical Garden has openings for two Summer Herbarium
Interns to participate in a project funded by the National Science
Foundation to prepare data for the Virtual Herbarium. These are
temporary, full time positions (35 hrs. per week, for up to eight
weeks). The start date is flexible. The hourly wage is $12.00 /hr.
Requirements:
* Must be enrolled in a college program (part-time or full-time)
leading to a Bachelor's degree.
* Some coursework in Biology.
* Computer experience (word processing, databasing, and/or web
page development).
* Familiarity with herbarium procedures helpful.
Interns will participate in various aspects of preparing an on-line
catalog to the Garden's reference collections of mushrooms and related
fungi. Work will involve entering data from specimens into a
computerized database, capturing digital images of specimens, documents,
artwork and photographs, analyzing and summarizing information from the
database, and preparing information for posting on the World Wide Web.
