New Orleans Zoo

Has anyone heard any news about how well the Audubon Zoo and Nature Institute in New Orleans is doing during the crisis?  Would any endangered animals there have been evacuated before the hurricane struck?  The bigger question now is whether we should finally face the inevitable, that a sinking New Orleans was doomed, and that most of it should perhaps return to a natural wetland habitat.  Eventually it is likely to become (once again) part of the Gulf of Mexico anyway.
