                John B. Williams  1932-2005

Members of the University of New England and the broader botanical community
will be saddened to hear that John Williams died early on Sunday morning.
John was a Senior Lecturer in Botany at UNE from 1956 until his retirement
12 years ago. He has been an Honorary Fellow of UNE since that time. John
was well known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of the plants of northern NSW
and for his ability to transmit this knowledge and his enthusiasm to
students.

A celebration of his life will be held at St. Mark's Chapel, Trevenna Rd.,
UNE at 2.00 pm on Wednesday, the 3rd of August, 2005.

The family has requested that no flowers be sent but that donations to the
UNE 'Friends of Botany' fund would be most welcome.
