Softwares for taxonomists

Following up on David Patterson's additions, I am intersted to learn about other softwares in actual use by taxonomists for data management, key construction, mapping and electronic dissemination of information. 
The Dutch national GBIF Node and ETI are preparing to hold a GBIF workshop on 'SpeciesBank' in March 2005. It would be nice to have an up-to-date overview of softwares currently available, with their developers and URLs. 
Anybody has additions to the ones listed by Chris Thompson, David Patterson?
