Solanum postdocs

This posting brings up a point that I have long wondered about.  Lycopersicon (tomato genus) is increasingly being regarded as a subgenus or synonym of Solanum, since it apparently makes the latter paraphyletic.
      If one were to take the alternate course, and split up the huge genus Solanum, about how many genera would result, and which genus would be sister to Lycopersicon?
