GESNERIACEAE SYSTEMATIST
Salary Range £19,500 - £25,328 (Band D)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for a Gesneriaceae Systematist within the internationally renowned Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. This is a three year fixed term appointment.
Your main duties will include: carrying out taxonomic research on Aeschynanthus; curation of the Gesneriaceae herbarium and living collections and communicating research to academic and public audiences. A PhD in plant sytematics or equivalent experience is essential. You will have the ability to write taxonomic accounts unsupervised and possess a knowledge of botanical nomenclature. A good communicator, you will also have skills in flora writing, monographic taxonomy and writing scientific papers as first author. Experience of studying the southeast Asian flora would be an advantage.
