Auxilium ad botanicorum graphicem

The Conservatory and Botanic Garden of Geneva are pleased to announce that 
a fully interactive web site containing samples of signatures, herbarium 
labels, and fragments of letters of the most important classical botanists 
is now on line (http://www.cjb.unige.ch/bd/auxilium/index.php).

This tool, known as “Auxilium ad Botanicorum Graphicem” is the result of 
an effort initiated in 1972 by Hervé-M. Burdet, former keeper of the 
Geneva Botanical Library, and aims to represent an important tool for the 
identification of handwritten notes on herbarium specimens. A correct 
identification may establish the authenticity of type specimens and other 
material of historical and nomenclatural standing.
