Ken devised a system which gives the impression of mixing the two 
incompatible criteria. But this "Kinman system" is composed of two systems: 
names give overall similarity distances whe desired (possible paraphyletic 
groups based on significant gaps), and codes (letters - numbers) give the 
"strict cladist" phylogenetic classifivcation.
"The" Kinman system is two classificatory systems written close to one 
another.

I don't mean it is not utilizable, I mean that there are two systems. It 
cannot logically be otherwise.
