Dear taxonomist web community,

I am looking for a position as research assistant/technician or field worker
(or any similar position) foremost in Australia but I also love to hear
about opportunities from other places (New Zealand, Canada, Europe, South
America...).
Can anyone help me or provide me with contacts? I would very much appreciate
to hear from you.
Below is a short description of my qualifications and skills. I will be
happy to give more detailed information (CV, references/ referees) to anyone
who is interested in employing an enthusiastic, reliable, interested and
motivated graduate.

I am a recent graduate of University of Wollongong/ Australia, where I
completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology (ecological studies). My interest
is in botany, animal and plant ecology and animal behaviour. I have sound
plant identification skills, good knowledge of Australian and European plant
families and botanical training/herbarium skills and have a passion for
learning about and identifying plants. I completed a Student Botanical
Internship Program at the National Herbarium of Australia in Canberra, which
provided me with intensive training in all aspects of managing botanical
collections and in biodiversity and taxonomic research.
I also have skills in small mammal trapping and handling, bird and frog
identification through uni projects and voluntary and casual work. I am
capable of designing and conducting scientific experiments.
I have been working as research assistant at UOW (fauna and flora survey,
databasing). I am literate in computer applications Word, Excel, JMP and
have experience in GIS ArcView. I am confident in reading maps, orientation
and navigation.

I am also a horticulturist/landscaper with work experience in Germany (where
I grew up), Switzerland, Canada, Australia and Netherlands.

Please don't hesitate to contact me and ask for my CV.

Sincerely,

Petra Wilhelm
