Linne or Linnaeous?

Just for fun,  While in Maine, USA,  I made a point of collecting
representative species (especially Linnaean species) in the town of LINNEUS
in Aroostook County.  I'm rather sure it wasn't named after C.v.L. but,
instead, it may have been after a Swede of the same family name.  I made
sure I took a picture of the town hall (or fire station ?) with the name !
