A vacancy exists for a suitably qualified Botanist with a strong
commitment to both teaching and research. Preference will be given to
dynamic and visionary candidates with established reputations and proven
research ability as leaders in any specialisation in Botany, with a view
to the development of the discipline of Botany at the University.

DUTIES:
The successful candidate, as occupying the Chair of the discipline,
will:
be expected to serve as the Programme Director for the discipline as
and when required by the School,
develop the discipline in all its aspects,
contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research
supervision, and
build a successful research group.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a relevant PhD degree and an outstanding appropriate
research record, including proven success in obtaining research funding
from external sources.
Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision
in Botany.
Evidence of the ability to provide leadership and vision.
Experience in academic administration will be a very strong
recommendation.
The remuneration package includes benefits and will be dependent on the
qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. The selection
process will commence on 5 December 2003 and will continue until a
suitable candidate is appointed or a decision is taken not to fill the
post.
