Brazilian herbarium specimens

Dear TAXACOM readers:

I wonder what the situation is now regarding Brazilian specimens...  I am
preparing to return several loans to the institutions in Brazil to which
the specimens belong, and have sent messages to the curators there about
this.  I have received no responses.  I am very concerned about shipments
being confiscated, lost, or destroyed in transit.

Has anyone successfully returned herbarium specimens to Brazil
recently?  Were special arrangements necessary?

Any insights anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.
