To all interested in the phylogeny of land mollusks and distributions of
terrestrial invertebrates .....
The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History is pleased to announce the
publication of a new book entitled "Checklist of Land Snails and Slugs of
California" by Barry Roth and Patricia S. Sadeghian. This work presents an
inventory and modern classification of the 279 species and subspecies of
land snails and slugs of California and reports their distribution by
county. Type specimens of 64 land snail taxa, described by S. Stillman Berry
and others, are illustrated by 192 full color photographs.
In addition we have a very limited number of new, original copies of the
long out-of-print book "The Mollusks of the Arid Southwest, with an Arizona
Checklist" by Joseph C. Bequaert and Walter B. Miller (1973). This wonderful
book provides an inventory, distributional data, and extensive field notes
of the mollusks of the Southwest United States, including 173 valid species
and 46 subspecies.
Information on both of these books is available at: www.sbnature.org/estore
<http://www.sbnature.org/estore> , including a downloadable pdf with
selected pages of the California checklist and illustrations.
