Kia Ora from New Zealand,
Does anyone have any experience running cellulose acetate gels for plant
isozymes (e.g., what modifications need to be made in extraction
buffers, running buffers, etc?). We have run into difficulties with
having inexpensive electrophoresis rigs made to run starch gels (safety
concerns by our workshop, etc) and may need to switch to cellulose
acetate (as these rigs are both commercially available and reasonably
priced in comparison). We are currently trying to optimize isozyme
systems for population genetic studies of Pittosporum (Pittosporaceae),
Celmisia (Asteraceae), and Zostera (Zosteraceae).

Kia ora rawa atu (thanks very much!)
Chrissen
