Travelling information for entomologist and nonentomologist

Dear friends,
sorry for crossposting,
but I have an Irishman here who got a job (English teacher)in Taiwan.
He is trying to make it via train as he is broke.
Could any of you find for him the shortest route from Moskow to Taiwan and
the cost of the ticket(s) is important, too.
Maybe from Moskow to Vladivostok and than...
Directly to Taiwan or to Japan and then to Taiwan?
Again, he needs cheap transportation or he could take a plane.
