systematics V taxonomy

Dear all,
I have thought for a long time that the word systematics is used for
two different levels, depending on the occasion and the person using
it. There is "systematics sensu lato" which includes "systematics sensu
stricto" plus taxonomy. "Systematics sensu stricto" is phylogenetic
systematics.
This concept solves some of the controversy found in the previous
emails on this thread.
And to Jacques Melot: I don't think that Susan's students were
concerned with what "systematics" meant a hundred years back, but what
it means today.
Cheers,
Susanne
