Protolog is fine for zoology too

    L'orthographe (en -logue) est utilisée car, conventionnellement,
l'anglais utilisé dans le Code international de nomenclature
botanique est le dialecte de Grande-Bretagne  : It is written
entirely in (British) English (Preface, p. vii, Saint Louis).
    Quand, dans le Code, il faut y choisir entre colour et color,
dialogue et dialog, etc., on choisit colour, dialogue, etc., et donc
lorsqu'il s'agit de choisir entre protologue et un hypothétique
protolog, on choisit protologue.

    Si aux États-Unis on préfère la forme protolog, rien n'empêche de
l'employer, mais elle n'exclut pas la forme protologue, utilisée
officiellement dans le Code !

P.-S. En français l'étymologie de -logue dans catalogue est
différente de celle de dialogue, monologue, mycologue, épilogue, etc.
