Rhenanian Friedrich Wilhelm University in Bonn, Germany

The Faculty of Mathematics and Science seeks to fill the position of a

professor for Systematic Zoology (C4)
(successor of Prof. Dr. C. M. Naumann)

by the  beginning of the winter term of 2004/2005.

The successful candidate will be Director of the "Alexander Koenig 
Zoological Research Institute and Zoolocial Museum - Leibniz Research 
Institute of Terrestrial Biodiversity" in Bonn. This is a 
university-affiliated, independent research institution of the federal 
State of Northrine-Westphalia and a member of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz 
Society (WGL). The teaching requirements of the professorship are two 
lecture hours per week.

We are looking for a dynamic, responsible person with managerial talents 
and broad experience in systematic zoology, phylogenetics, biogeography and 
biodiversity research. The successful candidate es expected to direct 
museum-collection based research and to organize interdisciplinary 
cooperation incorporating modern research techniques. The German 
"Habilitation" or equivalent experiences as well as experience in the 
management of a major Research Institution and in academci administration 
are required.

In accordance with § 46 of the University Law of Northrhine-Westphalia, the 
university of Bonn desires to increase the proportion of female faculty. 
Therefore, qualified women are especially encouraged to apply. In the case 
of equal qualifications, skills and specific experience, fermale applicants 
will be preferred, assuming no no exceptional attributes of another 
candidate. The applications of handicapped scientists will also be given 
preference in case of equal qualifications.
