Doug: I totally disagree with your comments about barcodes. Frankly, if you
have special concerns about using them (like students picking up the
specimens) there are ways around it (like putting the barcodes in different
places). I have used barcodes for years now, and with new imagers and
symbologies, I think that they are more useful than ever. You wouldn't
believe how quickly and efficiently I can now get a bunch of data into the
computer. Reading codes off labels and typing them by hand is horribly
inefficient (and error prone), and if I read a proposal wherein anyone
proposed doing this, I'd give it a poor review!
