Research assistant position vacancy

The following position for a half-time research assistant is open.


RESEARCH ASSISTANT: Non-tenure track 12-month position with half-time
appointment of 20 hours per week, available September 1, 2002. Salary
$13,500-14,500 plus benefits.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: B.S. or B.A. in entomology or similar field
of organismal biology preferred. Broad training in insect taxonomy,
familiarity with taxonomic literature and library use, knowledge of
general insect collecting and curation techniques. Excellent verbal
English, writing, and typing skills. Familiarity with Macintosh and
Windows computer systems, and Microsoft Word.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Duties include collection, curation, and
identification of insects, particularly Hymenoptera. Collection may
include local or long distance trips, curation may include
specialized techniques such as making slides or preparing specimens
for SEM examination. Other responsibilities include databasing of
specimens, word processing, library research, and purchase and upkeep
of laboratory supplies.
