I forward the following notice from Dr Junko Shimura about the approaching GTI regional workshop to be held in Kuala Lumpur in September, for the information of TAXACOMers in the broad Asian region who may not have heard about it before.
Please check out the website for further details. We are anxious that there should be as broad a range of participants from the region as possible.

Prior to the workshop, we have sent out questionnaire for
taxonomic needs and capacity assessment. If you have not
received the questionnaire from NIES or through your country's
GTI/CBD focal point, please print out the questionnaire from
the web and send it by FAX as soon as possible.
NB: questionnaire is to collect answer from researchers who
work in Asia.
If you are willing to attend the Species 2000 AO forum, please,
would you participate to the discussion on GTI at the workshop.
Minimum travel support for the working group members will be informed later with invitation letter, if you have your own fund to attend the GTI workshop and the forum, please let me know at

We ask pre-registration to find out the number of participants.
When you decide to attend the meeting, please, register your

Submission of abstract is optional. However, the abstract will
