SYSTEMATIC MAMMALOGIST/CURATOR OF MAMMALS
The Department of Biology and the Museum of Southwestern Biology at
the University of New Mexico announce a tenure track position at the
rank of Assistant or junior Associate Professor in the field of
Systematic Mammalogy/Curator of Mammals to begin in Fall 2003.
Minimum requirements: Ph.D. in relevant field of biology by the
start date and experience in curation at an internationally
recognized natural history collection.
Preferred characteristics: Applicants will be evaluated on the
following criteria: 1) experience in curation of a large and diverse
mammal collection at an internationally recognized natural history
museum: 2) postdoctoral experience; 3) publication performance; 4)
potential for establishing a vigorous and independent research
program in systematic mammalogy and some related area; 5) potential
for excellent teaching at the undergraduate through graduate level;
6) interest in interaction with colleagues working in a broad array
of disciplines and organisms.
Teaching responsibilities will include courses in Mammalogy and
Systematics and participation in the core curriculum of the
Department of Biology. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications. Members of underrepresented groups are encouraged to
apply.
