HERPNET PROJECT COORDINATOR
Applications are sought for a Project Coordinator for HerpNET, a 5-year,
funded collaboration among 36 North American herpetological collections to
create a network of distributed databases. The successful applicant will
be housed at the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology
(http://www.mip.berkeley.edu/mvz/), University of California at Berkeley,
where he/she will coordinate activities among participating institutions,
collaborate with technical database specialists at the University of Kansas
and University of California at Berkeley, integrate the project activities
with those of MaNIS (network of distributed databases of mammal
collections) http://elib.cs.berkeley.edu/manis/, and work with AmphibiaWeb
(http://elib.cs.berkeley.edu/aw/) to develop web-based communication.
Requirements: a Ph.D. or equivalent in herpetology, demonstrated
organizational and basic computer skills, some managerial or curatorial
experience, and ability to work with diverse individuals. The salary range
is $45,048 - $54,240 depending on qualifications and experience. Position
available January 2, 2003.
