Actually, these are separate threads;  one about cataloging, the
other about archival prints for attachment to herbarium sheets.

CompuPic is more of a directory structure viewer than a cataloging
program.  Also, enterprise users such as herbaria do not qualify
for the shareware license.

For cataloging purposes, I prefer Extensis Portfolio or ImageAXS.
These products are designed specifically for the cataloging needs
of (for example) professional stock photo agencies.  ImageAXS is
not currently on the market, but you can get Extensis Portfolio:
