vanishing taxonomists reference?

Doug,
     I remember reading an article by David Ehrenfeld several years ago on
the decline of taxonomic expertise, but can't remember what journal it was
in.  I don't recall if he cited any facts or figures, but he found the
decline very alarming.  I think he still teaches biology at Rutgers
University, and you may want to try contacting him for more information.
Just an idea.
