Urgent information about tej Cactaceae family

Synonymy has nothing to do with the gender. Otherwise there was no need for
separate specific epithets for the following binomials (note the ending of
epithets) under the two generic names

Epiphyllum caudatum                    Phyllocactus caudatus
Epiphyllum crenatum                     Phyllocactus crenatum
Epiphyllum grandilobum                Phyllocactus grandilobus
Epiphyllum hybridum                     Phyllocactus hybridus
Epiphyllum lepidocarpum              Phyllocactus lepidocarpus
Epiphyllum macrocarpum             Phyllocactus macrocarpus
Epiphyllum pumilum                      Phyllocactus pumilus
Epiphyllum strictum                      Phyllocactus strictus

Evidently Epiphyllum is neuter and Phyllocactus masculine
