lateral gene transfer

Gould had questioned if lateral gene transfer was reason enough to
legitimately jetision the tree (cladistic topologizing). I don't think so.
I would love to have a way to take the linear genetic map of loci making
sense to predict cross chromosome observations using virials but that has
not been done yet otherwise this falls as a transcendental illusion in the
historical confrontation of the creationist and the evolutionist over
horizontal vs. vertical. Where is the context of Meso Evolution?

My grandfather who was a recapitulationist long after Gould asserts this
idea was no longer taught, taught me to think of any "linear" nature of
evolution rather now I say in terms of a tree with ice frozen among the
branches. Entropy again??
