GROUPS contra subgenus

     I heartily agree with what Barry said, and would encourage the informal
name approach for intermediate taxa in general (informal names instead of
formal ones, whenever possible).  And in phylogenetic taxonomy this takes
the form of "Unnamed taxon" or "N.N."
