Yes. In fact you can take it up a further level and say that humans and
chimps as species are homologous. This relationship between species we
usually call "monophyly", but it is essentially the same relationship as
character homology, merely on a different level. They both are grounded in
the concept of descent from an exclusive common ancestor.
