Opportunity to gain experience in tropical forest botany
Comparison and development of tropical forest plant field guide formats (Ghana, Grenada, Cameroon) with a handbook to assist future production of field guides.
A one year post on the above DFID funded project starts in January 2001. The job will be at a starting salary of £16,775 for 12 months full time
The main duties will be to:
Assist with the production of short guides to forest plants and test materials for Ghana, Grenada and Cameroon.
Assist with the testing of these short test guides in the forests of these countries.
Assist with the completion of a manual to the production of tropical forest field guides, including: a critical summary of existing methods and formats of field guides for tropical forest plants; a compendium of useful resources for guide production, including glossaries, CDs of plant images etc.
Skills expected of applicant:
1.. Basic botanical skills (graduate or better)
2.. Travel in tropics preferably with experience of work in a tropical forest environment
3.. Computer literacy
