Research Database Applications Programmers
The University of Kansas Natural History Museum
and Biodiversity Research Center
Two part-time (75%) or full-time unclassified application programmer
positions are available now. We have a nationally prominent, exciting
research and development initiative in the area of biological
(biodiversity) databases and leading-edge Internet client/server data
access architectures. The effort is funded by the US National Science
Foundation KDI Award for 3 years with excellent opportunities for ongoing
support. We offer an intellectually stimulating but casual university
campus work environment, an excellent benefits package, and the opportunity
to have an impact on the global computational infrastructure to protect
biological diversity.
Required qualifications: A bachelor's degree in computer science or
software engineering and 1 year of professional programming experience in
an object-oriented language OR 3 years professional object-oriented
programming experience. Documented experience programming applications in a
Windows 9X/NT/2000 environment. Demonstrated development experience in the
design or utilization of SQL databases. Good written and oral
communications skills. Preferred qualifications include a working
understanding of ADO, Javascript, HTTP, IIS, ODBC or XML/XSL.
