Thanks Brian,
      I certainly intend to let NCBI know my own concerns about some of the
problems you have raised.  The taxonomic inflation problem is very
worrisome, especially all the "candidate divisions" which Pace and
colleagues have been proposing.  Proteobacteria is certainly best classified
at the Class level (and my personal opinion is that the rather  "different"
delta and epsilon groups will eventually have to be removed, and it was
premature to have placed them in Proteobacteria in the first place).
