This thread also proves (yet again) that languages, ALL languages, evolve
at a very fast rate and trying to define them is hopeless. American,
British, Australian and New Zealand "English" diverged a scant 200-300
years ago and look how much they've changed already. Over the past 40,000
years or so the native inhabitants of Australia developed several hundred
distinct languages from only a handful. Trying to define what's correct
for a language is as hard as trying to define what a species is: from a
distance it doesn't look too hard, but the closer you look the harder it is
to be confident that you know anything!
