I completely agree with the qualifications Andrew Mitchell just made
about molecular vouchering. It's even worse with my 2mm long
parasitic wasps, where you need to grind up practically the whole
organism to get enough DNA to sequence (especially for single copy
nuclear genes). Perhaps other kinds of documentation can also help
in our digital age- images taken before destructive sampling of the
specimens, for instance. It IS a difficult problem - but on the
other hand it is an area where we can all be helping each other by
being as thorough as possible.
