Position Announcement: Seeking highly motivated, out going, and independent
worker to join the staff of the Zilker Botanical Garden (see

Primary Tasks: Responsible for development and maintenance of plant
conservation collection at Zilker Botanical Garden, labeling and database
entry of living plant collections, identification of native and ornamental
plants, acquisition of collecting permits from public and private
landowners, developing cooperative conservation programs with outside
agencies and researching threatened and endangered plants.  Related tasks
include public education, public speaking, and the training and supervision
of volunteers in species and habitat conservation.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences such as
ecology, conservation biology, botany, horticulture, or other related area
or four years experience directly related to job duties.  Masters and Ph.D.
welcomed.   Working knowledge of database programs, preferably MS Access,
valid driver's license, willingness to travel and work weekends and
holidays, ability to perform work outdoors in all weather conditions,
independently and with others. Preferred: knowledge of Texas flora and field
experience, experience with horticulture, landscaping and publishing
helpful.

Licenses:  Obtain Texas Structural Pest Control License (for pesticide
applications) within 6 months of employment.

Position pays $2679-3348/month, depending on qualifications, benefits
