Interesting maple leaf

It is not uncommon that two leaves are seen at the tip of the petiole as I
have also come across instances like that. The probable explanation given
is that during primordial stage the meristem gets damaged due to various
reasons and results in this. Even branching in (normally unbranched)palms
has been explained the same way.
