Web Site "bibliographic" citation

Dear Taxacomers:

This topic has probably been raised before, but I was wondering if any
sort of standard has been established for citing authors and URLs (and
dates?) of a work presented on a web page. I am thinking in particular
of ones that have not previously appeared in print.
I'd be grateful for any input: there seem to be different "editorial
house" methods, but I have yet to detect any consistency.
Any ideas?
