Friends:

As long as we are considering the Asteridae/Dipsacales (hi, Tom!),
let's not forget their cousins in the Asterales:

A couple of weeks ago I collected what I take to be Inula graveolens
(keyed out in Gleason & Cronquist, who suggest that it is known from New
Jersey and New York) on our campus here in Columbia SC, which surely (?)
must be a southern extension of its range in eastern North America. Any
ideas as to the distribution of this species?

        Thanks JOHN
