OK. That's nice... :>)
But, don't relax. Notice the percentages by which those "wins"
won. Not very convincing. Nonetheless, OK.

EVOLUTION FOES FAIL IN KANSAS BALLOTING
from The Associated Press

TOPEKA, Kan., Aug. 1 -- Voters today appeared to be rejecting new state
science standards that de-emphasize evolution. In four Republican primaries
for the Kansas Board of Education, two candidates who supported the
standards were defeated by moderates, a third trailed, and the fourth was
leading.

Linda Holloway, who supported the standards as board chairwoman last year,
was beaten by Sue Gamble, 60 percent to 40 percent; another incumbent
supporter of the standards, Mary Douglass Brown, was defeated by Carol Rupe,
52 percent to 48 percent; Brad Angell, a third supporter, trailed Bruce
Wyatt, 56 percent to 44 percent, with 77 percent of the vote counted; and
Steve Abrams, who helped write the standards, led Roger Rankin, who
campaigned against them, 63 percent to 37 percent, with 57 percent of the
vote counted.

This was the first time state voters had a chance to decide whether the
standards should cost board members their jobs.
