Student bloopers

Our botany students tend to create new words more than new explanations. One student, unable to remember "glochids", substituted "gankles." For the rest of the semester, the teaching crew could be found saying, "You don't look so good, are you getting gankles?", ""Don't touch that, it's got wicked gankles", and "I think I'm having trouble with my gankles..."

The current favorite "nice-try-but-no-cigar" comes from the student who, when asked what mutation of the basic _Brassica oleracea_ phenotype accounts for Brussels sprouts, answered, "I don't know, but whatever it is, it must be stopped!"

We laughed so hard we got gankles.
