The National Herbarium of the Netherlands is an interuniversity institute
of the Universities of Leiden, Utrecht and Wageningen with a collection of
over 5.5 million specimens of phanerogams and cryptogams from the Paleo-
and Neotropics and Europe and a research programme aimed at floristic,
taxonomic, phylogenetic, and biogeographic studies and biodiversity
assessments. There are excellent facilities for taxonomic, morphological,
anatomical and ultrastructural research. Currently molecular facilities are
being expanded and molecular analyses are increasingly integrated in the
systematic research projects.

We invite applications for the position of a 

POST DOCTORAL FELLOW IN MOLECULAR PLANT SYSTEMATICS 
vacancy number: 9-264/9997

The successful applicant should have a PhD in plant systematics and
experience with modern techniques in molecular analysis such as PCR, AFLP,
RFLP,  and DNA sequencing and phylogenetic interpretation of molecular
data, and a good publication record. 
· He/she will carry out molecular research of a selected species group,
preferably in one of the cryptogamic phyla fitting the research priorities
of the National Herbarium, to assess their relationships, and integrate the
molecular results with information from morphology. 
· He/she will be strongly involved in the overall planning, and supervision
of molecular research of both cryptogams and phanerogams in the Leiden
University branch of the National Herbarium, in the framework of the
national Research School Biodiversiteit, and take part in the development
of research proposals.

The present position is available for a contract of 2 years, but in case of
proven excellence there are possibilities for tenure track leading to a
longer contract and ultimately a permanent senior position. The salary
being commensurate with the qualifications of the candidate and in
accordance with Dutch national regulations to a maximum of Dfl 6.516,-
gross per month.
