seed scarification

Hello there -

When studying seed germination, is it the general rule that one end of the
seed, if its end is cut off/nicked/scarified, will give rise to a
radicle more often than the opposite end?  Are such data publishable
(which end yields a higher percent of radicle emergences)?  Any good web
resources on this topic?

We have had a radicle emerge on each end, but it emerged more often on one
end than the other.
