Another oddment occurs on p. 49 of the same work: the second word in a
species' binomial name -- i.e., the "specific epithet" -- is referred to as
the "species epitaph"!
The senior author of the book is a butterfly taxonomist. My guess (and my
hope) is that he didn't see either the final manuscript or the proofs.
