Though not a member of the "Science Police", I find myself in some
agreement with these observations. "Maintain its identify" certainly lends
itself to acceptance of an species essence. Evolutionary tendency might be
acceptable (to me at least) if the evolution of a lineage involves a
certain bias in the kind of evolutionary novelties that arise. I don't know
what "biological fate" is in this context.
