No flames for either Doug or Dick. I agree with their viewpoints.
I also agree with arguments that the PSC is simply the BSC reworded. What
sets a monophyletic lineage off from others? Reproductive isolation. In
both cases, this has the benefit of providing us with a hypothetical
explanation as to WHY there are species--to protect coadapted gene pools.
Down with subspecies, a relict of the old typological days.
